After several years of neglect, in November, 2025, DocBook.org was archived. A new, simpler and more focused redesign, was launched in its place. The original pages are preserved on https://archive.docbook.org.

DocBook V5.0.1 is a minor change to DocBook V5.0. This release updates the Schematron rules to match the Schematron standard that changed after 5.0 was released. The 5.0.1 version will work with modern Schematron tools without error. DocBook Version 5.0.1 at OASIS.

DocBook V5.1 is the official OASIS Standard release of DocBook V5.1. It is a RELAX NG reimplementation of DocBook. This release adds support for assemblies (modular documentation) and resolves a number of issues. See DocBook Version 5.1 at OASIS.

DocBook XSD V5.1CR3 represents an attempt to hand-craft a useful XML Schema for DocBook V5.1. This schema remains non-normative, and more permissive than the normative DocBook schema, but (hopefully) represents a significant improvement over the previous, machine-generated attempt.
